It's finally here. Total hysterectomy and then wait on pathology for the next step. I'm just waiting to go back for surgery. I'm in a bed with my IV right now.
Btw- I finally went with KU for treatment.

(29,853 posts)I'm just excited I'm getting the hysterectomy I wanted instead of just removing the ovary, leaving the post menopausal bleeding in effect.

(6,034 posts)Do not rush your recovery! A lot of people gave me this advice before my hysterectomy, and unfortunately I did not always heed it. I was doing great and then overdid things and had a setback. Every friend I have who had the surgery and overdid it had a setback. No heavy lifting, no strenuous stuff. You will get better faster and stay well longer!

(4,164 posts)Had a total hysterectomy last Thursday and the pathology all came back benign. Hope your results are as good as mine!

(6,790 posts)Get a panty girdle (do they call it that?) It will hold you in and you'll be able to move around.

(12,381 posts)I'm a 2x endometrial cancer survivor. The waiting on the pathology is difficult. Hopefully they'll do it all right in the hospital you're in. They did a preliminary evaluation after my hysterectomy, but then sent it out for a more complete pathology report. To get the more complete results took just over 3 wks. Genetic testing results took even longer than that.
Once you get home, please take it easy and follow the drs orders. It's so easy to overdo once you start feeling better -- whether it's recovering from surgery or treatments (the stage I'm at now in the process). I find that I'm constantly reminding myself. That's the part I've found most frustrating.
