So I was sent to a cardiologist who started me off on Bystolic.
Problem I have with it, it makes me feel so low energy, and now I am having some chest pains that I didn't have earlier.
I want to stop taking it.
I also don't know what the effect is on exercise.
I feel like when I exercised with it, I sweat a lot more.
I am not sure what to do with it. I feel like heart medication just makes things worse.
Before I started taking Bystolic, I've been working out using Les Mills Body Combat. for over a week and a half.

(4,243 posts)the symptoms you are having. I keep my cardiologist, pulminologist, neurologist, and general practitioner advised on my exercise routine. So far none of them have told me to change anything, but the rule I live by is that the doctor's advice always comes first.
I intend to see them on Saturday.
Last time I was given pills to take, I foregoed it and did Insanity by Shaun T. My BP went down after it...
Thing is, exercise might not be enough for me now.
I know I have to improve my diet.
It is just that, this medicine makes me feel exhausted.

(45,851 posts)Just the act of talking will raise your blood pressure ten points or more from a relaxed and quiet state.
A meditative state with relaxation and controlled slow but deep breathing works surprisingly well. A small blood pressure monitor is a great thing to have when experimenting with techniques.

(45,851 posts)Take a reading every minute or two as you relax in a reclining position and breathe deeply with slow inhalation and exhalation maybe five to ten times per minute. The longer you do it the more effective it is.
I just try to let my body melt into the chair, I have some relaxation music/tones/surf sounds on an mp3 player and I put headphones on.
Something like this for music works for me, but whatever floats your boat.
It's important to relax for a few minutes and be silent when you're having your BP checked at the doctor's too, as I said, just speaking will drive your BP up.

I was hoping Body Media had something that does it, but I think it is only an HRM also.

(9,252 posts)I've lowered by blood pressure with L'arginine and magnesium aspartate. L'arginine dilates your blood vessels and lowers pressure. I take 2000 mil morning and night. There's lot of info on this online. I also take magnesium/potassium aspartate morning & evening. Read the High Blood Pressure Hoax by Sherry Rodgers on how to lower your blood pressure with diet and vitamins.
L'arginine has a second good side effect - it really ups your sex drive too!

(8,217 posts)So, I just went to my cardiologist this Saturday for the Stress test.
I get my results tomorrow.
Thing is, with the treadmill, I got up to the highest setting before I even reached the target heart rate.
So, I'll check that out.

(9,252 posts)I forgot to mention that fasting can bring your pressure down too. If your pressure ever spikes, instead of getting all freaked out, just fast and it comes right down.
