I see this as a new attack word against trans women that we wanna replace women. Why on earth would I wanna do that? Ever since childhood I was more interested in feminine things and I was constantly dressing up and being dolled up. Obviously I knew back then and never wanted anything more than to live my life as a female. I got that and at the worst time to do that considering that just purely existing is now a crime in the eyes of some. No I don't wanna undermine everything women have done. I never had those intentions of trying to undermine anything women have done in the past century. But I see this as a way of delegitimizing trans women by getting those born as biological women fired up against the community. We are fighting the same fucking battle.

(18,591 posts)Its just that many evangelical-Republican women are the assholes. Trans women are women, full stop. You know it in your heart.

(7,882 posts)are those who are doing a shitty in their life's work and hurting people. Such as my Congressman. And even him I would not want to replace personally - but I 'd love to replace him with someone better. Sadly, that's not going to happen in this district any time soon.
The "replace" trope is not new. I know it goes back at least to Hitler's Germany, and it would not surprise me if it went back much further. It strikes me as crlea insanity. If you are afraid you might be replaced, in a position, do a better job, If you are seriously araid of being replaced as a human being - try being a better human being. No one is trying or wishing to replace Jimmy Carter. (Not that any human being is really replaceable anyway. The whole concept is worse than idiotic - it's insane.)
I apologize for writing in anger. It's not aimed at you but at the idiots. You are a human jewel, and I accept, welcome, and applaud you.

(10,397 posts)I've been handling most of this stuff poorly, like really poorly. Such a small minority and yet we can't get the same allies like the rest of the community does.

(6,017 posts)Funny thing is, these days trans people in general are often more feminism informed than many cis women because it's become part of our subcultures. Thanks to people like Julia Sereno, Kimberlé Crenshaw, Kate Bornstein, Angela Davis, Leslie Feinberg and so on, it's generally understood that patriarchal sexism underlies oppression against both trans and cis women. And as we transition, most trans women are forced to examine and tease apart aspects like gender expression vs identity, society's views on sex & gender, biological influences, history of oppression, intersectionality, and so on. The idea of trans women "replacing" cis women is as ludicrous and bigoted as any other application of Great Replacement Theory where conservatives posit that non-white people are replacing white people.
An interesting piece about how it's misogyny, all the way down:

(10,397 posts)Like what and who am I replacing as a women? No one. I'm just added to the roster. Dating back to being 6 years old. I knew deep down, but was too scared to come out. But always had extremely feminine traits.

(33,643 posts)That's why those that can deliver a baby are matching chromosomes XX, and those that deliver sperm are nonmatched XY.
That's why with every mammalian species, embryos are indistinguishable from female for the first like 1/4 to 1/3 of the development cycle, until the 'male sex characteristics' start developing, ovaries become testicles, etc.
Females are the fundamental expression of all species, and the existence of 'males' is just an evolutionarily advantageous expression (for a species as a whole), so that meiosis can be the foundation of reproduction (creating far more mutations vs mitosis, and hence, better adaptability to environment).
In my book, we're basically all female ... except for 50% where the female essence mutates into male form.
The biological/developmental process of transforming the fundamentally female embryo into a male one ... is far from complete/perfect ... in a GREAT many cases. In turn, IMHO, this explains to some degree why there's way more trans women than trans men, and more gay men than gay women.
And why 'Eve was made from Adam' is just total freaking bullshit.

(6,325 posts)Looks like the old 'THEY TOOK OUR JERBS!' trope is being used yet again. The level of lunacy to even say that is staggering.
Don't let them get to you, V. This is about the stupidest thing I have heard recently. And, that is saying something. Yes, it is a device used to get the rabble all riled up. The fact that 'dog whistles' still work in this country is part of why we are where we are.

(1,457 posts)I've been unaware of this part of your struggle. I'm sorry this is happening. Like so many other things used against the LGBTQ+ community, it's abhorrent. I can see how it is especially terrible for you - something that could turn your fellow women against you.
Again, I'm sorry.

(3,567 posts)I know what extra struggles you have to deal with. Now adding the hatred perpetuated by the GQP and CONservatives, it is truly overwhelming. I pray people will come to their senses and accept everyone, to live their lives as they wish.
