OMG!! I have Medicaid help with LilBit!!

It’s been a long road. Yesterday, was laundry day, and the owner of laundromat ( who set up a table with mags, for her) and I were talking, and he said, “ my Mother worked in mental health. She told me Medicaid will allow you to hire help on your own”
And he offered to do “wash and fold “ for us.
And , I felt good. Called Medicaid, they agreed, sent authorization. And I knew this would happen,
Medicaid just called me now “ we found an in home agency,for her personal care, Her hours are approved . Someone will be calling you”

I’m ecstatic right now! After all these months, there is light.

It did for my dad when my mother got hospice care to do all my mother's personal stuff until I was able to get there to pitch in.

Not only will Lil Bit get good care, you'll be able to duck out for an hour or so to get haircuts or whatever.

LilBits case mgr said one thing Tuesday when I spoke to him about her laundry.
“ we gotta get our foot in the door”
And he is blue, like us. He moved to Fla. he has fought as hard for her, as I have.

Lil and I aren’t used to good news, she did what she does, ate, drank koolAid and went to sleep.
I still haven’t slept. Trying to process that we will have a life again.

39. Be aware medicaid also has a downside as well called estate recovery where

they can do things like take the house the person owns.

Her only income is social security disability. So in their case this is a clear win.

medicaid can and will do that if they can and a number of people have ended up suddnely being evicted because of that.
