Today has been a nightmare.

What is one supposed to do when one's significant other cannot be bothered to read a rental agreement and all its minutia... like the part that says we have to have a credit card in order to rent a vehicle although they said they were happy to use our debit card when we made the reservation? (They meant in order to reserve the vehicle, not to pay for it. Go figure that one out. I have a headache from it.) Now, in order to go on our vacation, we will have to drive our own vehicle. Now, I am stressed beyond belief because of this. If that thing craps out on us, we are done. But, we lose all that we put into this trip if we don't go. We are not rich enough to be able to just change our plans. We are certainly not rich enough to lose what we have in this trip already. And, we are not rich enough to survive a complete vehicle death hundreds of miles from home.

We leave first thing in the morning. Gaia smile on us, because the rest of the pantheons don't want to...

(Oh yeah, I will be very restricted in my ability to check the DU while I am away. I only have my poor old tablet. Can't see my phone well enough to read the site.)

Make sure all your car’s fluids are full and clean, i.e., oil, transmission, brakes and coolant/anti-freeze.

Keep your tires properly inflated.

For an emergency, have flares. Also have water and maybe some food. A first aid kit is also a good idea.

Have a great vacation! Stay positive and have fun.

In the reality of many realities, how we see what we see affects the quality of our reality.

May Gaia bless you with strength and honor.

If my thoughts are creating any reality here, then we are in trouble. But, I hope She will. I am going to need a lot of it this time around.

I use to keep track of my worries and it ended up with 87.3% of my worries were needless.
If this doesn’t help, I hope you get a chuckle.

This is for him, even though he probably is thinking that this trip is for me. But, he is the one that planned and organized and so on. He has been planning this for over 6 months. I know mother is thrilled. Not for my appearance... 'indifference' is the word I would offer... but she certainly loves her son in law. (We will be stopping by her newly purchased, 103 year old house house once we get settled on the Banks.)

don't blame your SO....try to have a laugh about it. Do what the first poster suggested about making sure the car is in good shape. Enjoy the drive.....enjoy each other....life is too short.....

They said they would accept this card. The dude at the counter did not accept it. They lied.

(As usual, I would post my song, but it is already posted enough. 'They Lied'.)

agency accepted the card for a reservation I would assume it would be good for the rental. In fact, I have rented a car in the past with a debit card. The fault is not with your significant other. The agency should have brought it up when they accepted the debit card.

They need a credit card in case of overages like late fees. You'd have to do some research in case one of them will work with a debit, I recall one saying ok if you posted a $500 extra deposit.

Humans cannot be trusted so they have to do this to insure that they don't get stiffed with damaged returns or overages.
