I cry when I watch heart warming videos on Youtube. And sometimes when I cry it feels like it will never go away. And it is embarrassing. The other day I was in the grocery store and a women I was talking to told me how she lost everything in hurricane Ian and I STARTED CRYING.
And of course right now I am in Portugal. I have a lot of wonderful friends but I feel like no one can help me.
I don't feel like I am depressed but maybe I am

Find a silent mantra and follow your breath, then make it a habit.

(92,635 posts)It went on for a while and then I stopped, mostly. I find that "things" that I feel strongly about bring tears to my eyes even when crying wasn't where my head was at. I suspect that it's an unexpected feature of aging, like eye floaters.
Hopefully it's omething that will pass or ease after a short spell.

(46,941 posts)There's enough to be depressed about in the world, and enough to cry for. You are not responsible for other's problems. We all have to set boundaries, and reset them from time to time. Find your inner strrength and make the mindfulness of sadness temporary.

(5,265 posts)music originated in Portugal. The Fado musical artists are mournful and whimsical performers.
The best places to hear Fado are in local street bars or bodegas without the expensive dinners and shows.
You will be with artists who understand you. It speaks to the soul and resonates deeply.
Fado singers and musicians reflect the deep longing, passion, and suffering that is the history and heritage of the Portuguese.
Have you seen or heard these performers and musicians? Did it help in any way?
I am of Portuguese heritage; inside of the Portuguese we usually live a "saudade" which is hard to translate with one word. But the Fado is all about the "saudade" which is a longing for, usually something from the past, a deep emotion that is impossible to forget or wash away. It is a constant state that comes and goes. It is internal and eternal. the closest word is perhaps "longing" but it is more than that, it becomes a part of the person.

Im so sorry youre experiencing this. Its hard and bewildering and seemingly arises from nowhere.

I've had multiple skull fractures & other TBI as a child & adult. I cry very easily but I'm not sure that is the cause.

(22,996 posts)with my brother. We did not talk for 2 years, (he is a MAGA)
But he died in July. I think that I am upset because I had alway wanted to go back to when we got along and he liked me. I remember talking to my mother about it; we were trying to figure out why is didn't like me anymore. He did some really shitty things to me over the years, (of course I am bisexual and that is just not acceptable in his group) he did apologize to me a year or some.
My mom is dead, my father is dead and my brother is dead. I am the last surviving person in my immediate family.
Maybe it is grief I hadn't thought about it before. He died in July
