For all DUers who need help with German/Bavarian genealogy I found a great site by accident

It's called Birkenhordt das Projekt. I had googled one of my ancestors and it opened the floodgates and I spent all afternoon going back generations and finding out the reason I was hitting a brick wall with a GG-grandmother was because my cousin who had done the really heavy lifting had mispelled her last name (and badly). I ended up going back clear to 1500. I hope the site can help some of you who are looking. Happy hunting!

Best of luck! I found out that my maternal gggrandparents and paternal gggrandparents lived in the same town and probably were married in the same church! How awesome is that! They didn't even homestead in the same state (one set in Ohio, the other Indiana) so the odds of their great-grandchildren meeting, much less marrying is astounding. Also, the site is free-so that's a real plus. Of course Ancestry is still the gold standard but I appreciate anything that helps, like yourself.
