I am very excited that now at the age of 49 I now have my basic info to begin my family tree!

(5,649 posts)If people fail to see it, I'll unpin it. (Skinner said that people often don't look at pinned threads because they get used to them being the same - even if they aren't).
Thanks for the link!

(9,474 posts)Very helpful site, will certainly save time to have everything in one list.
Glad you're getting started at an earlier age than I did. By the time I got started doing my research, I was one of the oldest in the family and had very few resources I could go to for info. Do yourself a big favor and interview the older members of your family before it's too late.
Good luck on your search! Hope you have as much fun as I do with genealogy.

(2 posts)Fulton History: A wonderful resource for New York genealogists. I acquired a wealth of information from this collection of archived newspapers, to include a 1911 article about my "bad boy" of a grandfather, who developed a case of 'sticky fingers' while shopping at the corner store.

(7,699 posts)She was born in Oswego. Within one month, working full-time on it, I had
over 400 family members with tons of documentation. And her family
only emigrated there in the early 1900s. It is a truly amazing source.

(11 posts)for the list. I usually use Ancestry but I get the guilty feeling that it allows me to do sloppy work. I am excited to try some other sites. I have a great great grandfather that apparently just sprung from the ground one day. I swear he must have changed his name and went on the lam! It will be fun to look elsewhere for him, the stinker.

(21,057 posts)I decided not to renew my ancestry.com account. Too much bad/wrong info. there now with their "new" system which I really don't much care for (deleted my trees).
The price has gone up a lot as well. They call it a "minor" increase.
Minor is not equal to 20%+ in my book!
Subscription went from $155.00/yr. to $189.00/yr. for "members" only; $199.00/yr. for new members.
