Hosts are serving smoked meatloaf….never had it. I’m bringing a pasta salad, a friend is bringing a pecan pie. Pot luck around a fire pit.

This morning we went to our annual tractor parade. Many great old machines and cherished farm families. Saw 3 tractors (Case, John Deere and Farmall) driven by young farm women. Candy and new pencils were thrown to the kids lined up along the road. Several farm families had hand-held bubble machines which everyone seemed to love. Lots of (not MAGA) American flags. It honestly gave me hope.

Potato salad and a piece of kielbasa on a bun. I was going to have some baked beans, but wasn't hungry enough.

Strawberries and a dab of ice cream.

Happy 4th. Happy Friday

TJ is heading out to work so I perused the 'fridge

Cottage cheese with sliced strawberries to start and the pooch enjoyed my leftovers.

Some leftover shaved steak that had been fried with several colors of peppers, onion, and a few chopped up grape tomatoes. I warmed this in the microwave and then put it on a hoagie roll topped with slices of pepper jack cheese. A few minutes under the broiler and I had sort of a steak and cheese sandwich. The Duckster was not given any because of the onions and spices. I'm not sure I have been forgiven yet.

Not sure what's next, maybe sliced cucumber and hummus.

PS: The barn swallow nest I mentioned in the breakfast thread emptied out sometime this afternoon. I'm unhappy that I was elsewhere and didn't get to see them leave.

I had some steamed chicken and salmon on top of sushi rice. The chef also made a red curry with chicken and basil, steamed greens from the garden with green onions, ginger, fish sauce, and bits of chicken, chicken soup made from the broth of the bones. The chef bought 40 lbs of halal leg quarters at the Business Costco last month, wrapped them all separately and froze with cling wrap and butcher paper. She takes out one or two at a time to use, usually making a few different things from them. We also have a container full of NY strip steaks marinated that we put on the grill as people come by.

Cooking and eating a big thing here.
