Hydrangea (thru window) Varied colors!

1. We got a hydrangea

On the south side, gets plenty of sun and moisture. Beautiful plant but no blooms. ?

2. Nice. I see a few of these around too, but the ones I've seen are blue in color. I know that they range in colors.

It's an upcoming of Spring alert, and so I'm very happy to see yet again, the coming of Spring, the flowers, the people crowding outside, enjoying the weather, etc.

3. Happy to learn a few things.

Hydrangea colors range from white, pink, and red to blue and purple, and sometimes even green. The color of some hydrangea varieties, particularly bigleaf hydrangeas (Hydrangea macrophylla), can change depending on the soil's pH. Acidic soil tends to produce blue or purple flowers, while alkaline soil often results in pink or red blooms.

This seems to not quite made up it's mind, color-wise. Will see what effect upcoming rain will have, tonight and tomorrow.

4. Funny you mentioned the acidity that these plants live in. That's one of the reasons I knew about the plants, was that

a good friend told me years and years ago that these plants indicate the acidity of the soil and thus, to use it as a guide. I never forgot that advice.

6. What I wouldn't give to be able to grow them and Irises and Peonies and Lilacs, and Gladiolsa and ......................

Camelia open here early, within border of my almost enclosed patio, near box-wood and old palm trees.

11. One of the things I miss on public radio is the feature where Bob Simon would chat with Red Barber, and ...

... Barber would mention the Camelias.

Both sides of my family got to Baltimore in the 1670s. Irish and Scot/Irish.
