Seems squirrels attacking my rose bushes (in containers.)

Thought this months ago, may have 'done in' my Mr. Lincoln, this morning noticed digging around other one. Anything to do?

1. Buy some of the cheap peanuts at like Fleet Farm or equivalent and put them

on the ground away from your plants. They luv them some peanuts!
We feed them peanuts all winter on the ground around our big maple tree. Keeps them fat and sassy.

I recently saw this online. I have no idea if they work, but it seems a low tech potential solution. People put them upside down in the soil (lots of them). You can use the clear ones.

4. I like it! Have so enjoyed my roses,

and now getting down about it.

Will move them to other side of the house, for spring/summer, so maybe not so 'attractive' there, but for winter, they have to be where they are, protected from wind on my patio.

6. I don't know if this works with squirrels

Chipmunks used to dig up my tulip bulbs until I sprinkled hot pepper flakes around the soil where they dig, and then they left the area alone. Only problem is you have to re-apply after a rain. An old gardening remedy recommended by my late father-in-law.

10. I use cayenne

It doesn’t hurt plants, insects or animals. Very effective, but you have to put it down every time there is any rain, even just enough to get the pepper damp.
It is somewhat expensive, so try to find a large bottle at a discount store.

8. Pepper spray.

Go to the Hardware or Nursery Store and ask for a can of Pepper Spray. Spray the soil as well as the lower bark area of Mr.Lincoln. May have to prune Lincoln back to save it. They can not take damage to the Root System.

Lincoln's been well pruned back; may be gone. Really concerned about his roots. My other, from David Austin, Alnwick rose, maybe only just 'attacked,' so treating it. Pepper spray on the way!

14. Then give these Guy's

some Liquid Rose Food ,Found Bayer All In One to work the best. Directions should be,2 oz per quart of water per plant. Pour it around the outer edge of the Root Zone if you can. This product will is a systemic and will fight the Aphids and Creepy Crawlers as well as blight. Been using this product for almost thirty years,damn it works. Rosa Roses,which is a species of climbers,can not handle this product. Then you go with Lady Bugs and a plain garden fertilizer .

Just finished another bloom cycle here. We will get at least two more before the high heat shuts things down.
