My friend reminded me, sharing

My inherited cat is 19. She does minimal grooming, doesn't use a scratcher pad. I was telling a friend that the kitty was getting stuck on any soft surface every step. My friend asked if she needed her claws trimmed. I was going to try today, but noticed the tip of one of her claws was long enough to touch the pad. I also realized I can't see well enough to clip. I got her into the vet this morning and got her nails clipped and ears cleaned. The long tip hadn't injured the pad, and all of her nails are clipped with no injury
I've had cats most of my life and never had to clip their nails. I'm really glad my friend mentioned it. I think the kitty will be more comfy.

My last kitty lived to be 22. The last year of her life, I had to give her a bath every week, but she kept her claws sharp.

I took her to the vet as fast as I could and it turned out her nails were too long on one paw. I was glad it wasn't anything serious.

Both my cats have their claws trimmed at their annual checkups. I don’t know why hers grew so much faster than usual. Both cats have plenty to scratch on.

I'm glad your kitty is okay!
