My cat Chester got sprayed by a skunk today.

He is so good natured with me, I took him for a bath while his initial squirming lasted about 30 seconds he was purring in a minute. Good thing he is 16 pounds of muscle.

Still has some smell but nothing like it was, I used baking soda and rinsed him well.

A video of him at about a year old at 12 pounds. We got him at a animal shelter when he was 6 months old he ran right up to me when we got there. He turned five this year.

I gave Angus a tomato juice bath. He ended up smelling like tomato juice but the stink was gone. I suppose I should have rinsed him better.

7. Odormute is actually quite effective if there is lingering odor.

I came across Odormute many years ago when my senior dog started having "accidents." The biggest test was when my other dog was "skunked." Worked like a charm. Compared to other enzyme based products, it's dirt cheap (you just mix up when needed -- a small package of powder has lasted ages).

Skunk Odor on Pets

DIRECTIONS: When your dog or cat gets “skunked”, it is best to bathe your pet outdoors in order to avoid getting in contact with any household items. Wear gloves to avoid contact with the skunk odor.

He really loves running around in the snow. In the house I have a few plastic Easter eggs he has a blast batting them around.

When I was a kid, my brother and I bathed our lab mix in some tomato juice after a skunk incident. What we failed to anticipate was her shaking it all off and spraying the entire bathroom with tomato juice. The bathroom got very clean.
