(73,315 posts)long, long time private vet who sold to vca when he retired, about 15 yrs ago, i think. not sure when it closed but i just noticed it.
my longtime exotic animal vet was bought but i dont see them on the list. guy who started it just retired, so i wonder how long theyll b around.
eta- i see it now. vetcor.
they were always spendy, cuz exotics, but its crazy now.

(6,606 posts)They are undergoing a big expansion and just hired another vet. I think all of this activity is when they sold to private equity. Yep, on the list. They sure are careful about keeping it hidden, though.

(5,929 posts)One of my favorite vets left my practice and I thought "WTF?" I'd heard about the private equity thing and did a search. Found this list and, sure enough, my current practice is on it. I also found a press release/article from the company saying they had become part of the "family" (blech). The vet who left is opening his own practice - its about 3 miles further away but will be getting my business once he's ready.

They also reduced basic services like "walk in's"
and greatly increased prices. They want almost
$600 for a cat spay & chip
