I'm kitty-sitting Peeps and the girls this weekend. They are getting big and very skilled. I showed them Mikey's favorite game and one of the kittens is obsessed with it. When I'm not playing it with her, she follows me around and tries to herd me to the toy so I'll play some more! About a week ago, the first time I went over there after showing them the game, I was in the house talking to their human while the door was open just enough for them to go in and out. They greeted me outside but after I had been inside for a few minutes, the shy one came in and said hi to me and left a moment later. A few minutes later she came back in and tapped me on the foot and looked up at me. I pet her and carried on talking with my neighbor in the house. The kitten left but returned a few minutes later and this time reached up toward my knee with one paw and gently put her claws into the fabric of my pants. I had to laugh!
I explained to their human that she is asking me to come out and play and is getting impatient. They wanted to play "stick".
So the game is simply a long, flexible switch* of a stick that I drag on the ground. They go nuts chasing after it, the faster the better. One of the kittens, the not shy one is obsessed but amazing, when she catches the stick, she won't let go right away and insists on carrying it off like it's large prey! She tuck in her chin and hauls the whole stick off and bites it for a couple minutes like she's pretending to eat it. Very primal. And she's gorgeous. I'll have to get some pictures this weekend to share.
Mikey loves this game too. The kittens are obsessed and I MUST play thus game with them when I visit now!
