We've got a whopper of a storm blowing through. LOTS of thunder and lightning. At first he sought protection by curling up against me. Now he's at the window, watching the lightning show. The rest of the kid cats are hiding.
This rain will make this one hellish day since it's also headed up in to the 90's. Me and the kid cats will housebound with the AC running.

(26,988 posts)I say, in all seriousness, that if I had to choose between having a refrigerator and AC, I would happily get a giant cooler and buy ice every day and keep my AC. I can't stand being hot and sticky.
It must have been quite entertaining watching him watch the storm.

(703 posts)I bought a new car when the AC went out in my last car and it would've cost $1,000 to repair it. I tried driving around with the windows down, but that didn't last. And it's only really hot in Michigan for maybe two or three months out of the year. Still too long to go without AC for me.

(26,988 posts)...did not have AC. In 1973 in Rochester NY, that was not a big deal.
When I joined the Air Force nurse corps in 1976 and got stationed in San Antonio TX, it was a huge deal. There was no covered parking on the medical campus, so the car baked in the sun all day and was an absolute inferno by 5PM. There I'd be, driving home in that sauna on wheels in a high-collared uniform blouse that buttoned to the neck, a wool blend skirt, and panty hose.
Talk about misery.
