On March 22, 1945, Eleanor and Franklin went to Union Station to meet the visiting Governor General of Canada.

FDR and Eleanor had gone over to Union Station at about 4:00 on the afternoon of the 22nd to meet the visiting Governor General of Canada, the Earl of Athlone and Princess Alice.

FDR was born in 1882. He was 63 years and about two months old in these pictures.

...at the FDR historic site last time we visited.

His BP was through the roof. He was already dying when he ran for the the 4th term, but I think he just wanted to stay through the end of the war.

He was a great President, and his choice of Truman for VP, as unexpected as it was, proved to be wise although no one knew it the time. He should be subject to criticism, however, for not including Truman in important meetings, or holding briefings with him. Truman rose to the occasion but it was dicey.
