ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — A U.S. jury on Tuesday awarded $42 million to three former detainees of Iraq’s notorious Abu Ghraib prison, holding a Virginia-based military contractor responsible for contributing to their torture and mistreatment two decades ago.

The decision from the eight-person jury came after a different jury earlier this year couldn’t agree on whether Reston, Virginia-based CACI should be held liable for the work of its civilian interrogators who worked alongside the U.S. Army at Abu Ghraib in 2003 and 2004.

What's it with Republican presidents? is learning to pronounce words asking too fucking much?

I remember Abu Ghraib prison. It was where a peculiar line showed up, separating Americans into different camps. There were the anti-torturers, in their naivety, scandalized at the very idea and the pro-torturers who (when they didn't outright deny it ever happened) thought, and loudly, Americans have a God-given right to torture whoever they see fit to torture. I really believe that some volunteered for the military to get in on that fun only to be rudely awakened when they, upon discharge, found their skills and aspirations had no value in America's transactional society. Too bad for the little storm troopers, eh?

Oh, fascist America, even in its embryonic state, was already a very ugly baby.
