the other day and the person calling was trying to get me to agree to a new plastic Medicare card that had a chip in it. I told her never heard of that and told her she was trying to scam me. She became angry and said she wasnt scamming me. I hung up. Thats a new one on me.

I wish we would get plastic cards; those paper ones get kind of flimsy after a while

Glad you told her where to go.

(63,187 posts)coming from, I let it go to the answering machine. If they really want me they will leave a message and then I can evaluate who it is. In this case if they had left a message about a new Medicare card, I would have called Medicare (not the number that the scammer called from) to find out what was going on.
Told my wife today that if people are trying to get ahold of us it might take some effort.

(14,664 posts)answer phone if I dont know the number, but my husband answered it and the discussion went on for a minute, so I picked up and listened in, and thats when I told her she was trying to scam me. She was rather hard to understand as well.
Another well worn scam is we want to buy your house, then they hear click! I sometimes wish I had a old type phone so I could slam the phone down🤬

(4,873 posts)"as-is" I told them I'll sell for $1,000,000. They connected me with their supervisor, who asked if we had made massive improvements or what, and I told them no, it's as-is, and my price is non-negotiable.
They haven't called back, plus it was a lot of fun.
