Straitjacket

No freedom of movement
Tied in one place
I’m just a body
My arms are not arms anymore!

No way to escape, no place to enjoy
Shackled to the spot where I dwell
With my thoughts so irrational
Just stuck in this padded cell

I don’t have a choice
I have to serve the Master
The King who dominates the world
In his bloodied orange hues
If I resist, they pull the straps tighter
My arms are breaking
Under the strain
And I scream out in pain
Until I surrender
Until I give in to him

How can I escape this straitjacket?
Leave my captors, flee from the room?
What can I do to gain freedom?
Where can I hide from this doom?

The only escape is to stop listening
To go deaf and blind to the news
To ignore the oppressors and tyranny
And walk my own walk and not theirs
Break the chains
Tear the ropes
Split the shackles
And rip the straitjacket to shreds

I will not be constrained
By the enemies of freedom
Or the lovers of infamy
I will be free

To live…
