Ice Cream On Independence Day
Ice cream on Independence day
Frozen treats of festive families are melting in the park
The vendors cart overturned by masked men marching in the dark
The bloody bunting white and blue, but mostly red
As they assume the spectacle of some patriotic riot displaying fatal fireworks instead
Ice cream on Independence day
For the end of the dream comes now
With no more celebration for the nation we lost to a tyrant we bow
And some citizens did nothing while evil ones did worse
Our rulers rewarded for being perverse
Ice cream on Independence day
No sweet taste of freedom sprinkled with liberty
Since fear captured the country with chaos and anarchy
And all those who protest are jailed for life
But some must choose to march against such a terrible time of strife
Ice cream on Independence day
But theres still some hope to be had
To imagine a future where good governance overcomes bad
Through some revolutionary evolution
That removes all malice in mans heart with a joyful solution
