tied surrounded by screams smoke and twisting flames
not knowing how this started yet i know well the end
ghosts in vague dreams spoke and read saints’ names
spiraling out of control departed from sanity and dim
sleeping through a cold night as the mists circled near
protected by those devoted mad with the faith in god
armored i made a bold sight the face showing no fear
by the grace of angels coveted measure each step trod
belief creates fearless hearts burnishes shields of souls
ignoring the wounds the dead the damned in a struggle
as my touch of nearness starts the bold out of control
suddenly a defeat suddenly fled around lives in rubble
hardened eyes with hard hands bore me to the stake
pardoned lies with tarred bands wore my hope opaque
