the sacred held in rigid fingers afraid of letting go
loves that were once given can never be returned
despite of age desire lingers as darkness can glow
lessons of hearts driven waste waits to be burned
as cracks appear gradually spread by ice and rain
hollows created by sad tears to run down the face
looking back timid tragically mad memory a strain
clinging onto the life of fears bereft of saving grace
time moves strength wanes the precious set aside
pushes much further back than ever was imagined
thoughts which were banes now impossible to hide
emotion and urgency lack false priority examined
in hopes and in dreams the angels still fly exalted
all while a reality schemes the sacred is assaulted
