sowing seeds of doubt
a bit below the surface of the skin which is so easy to tear
scratches and sudden bruises appear with slight movement
the place where doubt begins beneath the worn and wear
a place where choice chooses and the lamentations lament
dense in the dank deep darkness as attached to every tissue
at what point was this seed sown and it eagerly took to root
no spouts surface on the carcass debate was never an issue
in secret down inside it has grown barren and devoid of fruit
at times of happiness it lunges reminding of the power held
during brief triumphs it moans of songs of impending gloom
a heart fails and a spirit plunges as forests of hope are felled
foundations of civilization groan see clearly the coming doom
to awaken in the morning rested to blink and feel the weight
climb the mountain never crested to fail and then to hesitate
