Dearest Sadie,
As one goes through life, and within that life, there are days and moments that we do not realize the magic that is within that moment or day until we are in it or it is past. I believe this is one of those days or moments. Perhaps you will have been too young to remember this day. You will only have to look upon the people that are important in your life to know that something wondrous took place many moons ago, to be excepted into a world and family that holds many fine beliefs and traditions.

Sadie's Morning Song
As Father Sun rises from his sleep
His morning rays kissing the Earth
You are presented to him
Holding you in his warm embrace
Kissing your young face
Welcoming you into his family
May you always delight in the new day
That comes with the rising of the morning sun
To see the possibilities in the new morning
Let the present nourish your soul
Your dreams guide you to the future
The future holding wonderment and surprise
In this life may you travel with many spirits
Showing you the correct path in your journey
To listen to the wisdom of others, young and old
May the spirit of your grandmother live within you
To have the gentleness and softness of her soul
To see the goodness in all men and women
As you grow may your wisdom also follow
May your struggles in life only be as great
As your ability to overcome them
May you have the strength to overcome
The struggles of this world, to learn from them
May you always know love in your life

I've never been very good at writing, but I do like drawing. When I got to take a drawing class back in my undergrad days, the teacher showed us that there are many times that we have to stop and not add anything more to a work. She was right. There were many points in that class and since then as I doodle and draw for fun, that adding that 'little bit more' ends up screwing the picture up. I still have that little urge to change things when I see some of the stuff I did in that class.
That's all I got. I'm just an old (ok, not that old, but I feel like it), broken down Hydrogeologist.
Sorry...I couldn't help it, I had too share:
These are two drawings that I still feel a desire to fiddle with decades after I drew them.

the second does not look like a drawing
just my thoughts

But then I also am always dealing with a migraine headache (over 2 decades without a migraine free day - I'm going for a record), so that could be what everyone is seeing.
As to the Jesus part, my mother always said that I looked like Jesus once I grew my hair long. I don't think she liked it when I let my beard get long though, since that didn't fit with her mental picture of Jesus.
The brass rose was a gift my father gave my mother ages ago. I liked how the light shines off the different parts from different angles. I drew the picture with regular prismacolors on black paper. Once I put it into the computer, I played with adding some texture to the black paper which gives it that 'not quite a drawing' look.
I managed to get some neat variations of the rose using Photoshop. Here is a blue version:
