Years ago when the Internet was still new, Chalker used to include his email address in his books. So I took a chance and sent him a fan letter and I couldn't believe it when he replied. I responded to that because he encouraged opinions, good or bad.

The last email sent to him got no response. Then about 3 years later, I got a response from his son saying his dad had passed suddenly 3 years before. He'd just stopped grieving a little to read his dad's mail and comforted by his many, many fans who had conversations with his father. I'll never forget Chalker and his boy

I'd suggest "The Wonderland Gambit." That series of books was my intro.
