Jury selection starts in Zumba prostitution case

AP foreign, Tuesday January 22 2013

DAVID SHARP

Associated Press= ALFRED, Maine (AP) — The process of finding a jury for the trial of the business partner of a Zumba instructor charged with using her Maine studio as a prostitution front has broken for the day.

About a third of 140 potential jurors called for the trial of Mark Strong Sr. were released Tuesday as lawyers for both sides sought to find a jury untainted by international news coverage of the prostitution scandal in Kennebunk.

The 59-year-old Strong, of Thomaston, is charged with conspiring with Alexis Wright, alleged to have running a prostitution operation out of her studio.

Strong is facing 59 misdemeanor charges. The trial is expected to last two to three weeks.
