Jannik Sinner, the mens world No 1, has been banned from tennis for three months in a settlement of his doping case.
The 23-year-old Italian, who won the Australian Open in Melbourne last month, will now be suspended from the sport until 4 May. He will be eligible to play in the years next grand slam, the French Open, which starts on 19 May at Roland Garros.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) had challenged a decision last year by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) not to suspend Sinner for what it judged was accidental contamination by a banned anabolic steroid last March.

How neat that he can play in the French Open. Rules are so flexible for some

Ridiculous, he said.
Whether it was accidental or planned, you get tested twice with a banned substance you should be gone for two years.
Your performance was enhanced.

Professional golf ⛳ too likely.
It would be naive to think with millions of dollars at stake this doesn't happen more. Enforcement of whatever rules these tours have appear pretty lax.
So someone on Team Sinner must have messed up pretty bad but rumors of PEDs and match fixing have been around the sport for years.

(72,124 posts)...has random testing at least twice a year, could be 3.
And, the membership agreement says they can test at any time for cause, including blood tests.
Nothing is foolproof but they do have a pretty strict program.
