The Seattle Seahawks are already down a longtime member of the wide receiver corps with Wednesday's release of Tyler Lockett.
Another may be on the move. Per NFL Network, DK Metcalf has requested a trade, and the Seahawks are considering granting it.
Metcalf, 27, is a two-time Pro Bowler and former second-round pick who's played his entire six-season career with the Seahawks. It's not clear from the report what prompted his request.
Metcalf took a secondary role last season to second-year receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who emerged as Seattle's No. 1 receiving option. Metcalf still remained a key contributor to Seattle's offense.

(32,166 posts)Myles Garrett thinks the same of Cleveland (and yes there are for Garrett).
I'd get it if Seattle was dumping him -- I think wide receiver is an often overpaid position. Not that it isn't important or impactful. Just overpaid.

(14,588 posts)And wants to be part of a winning team, just like Myles Garrett. Who can blame him for not wanting to waste his career mired in mediocrity and not being able to use all your talents?
(FWIW I think his college teammate AJ is a better receiver despite their almost identical physical skills -- and AJ doesn't have the injury history DK does -- but who's to say a change in location wouldn't jumpstart his career and get people talking about him in the same breath as Justin Jefferson, Ja'mar, CeeDee, Puka, AJ, etc.)
