Russell Wilson reportedly joining Giants on 1-year, $21 million deal

Russell Wilson has reached an agreement to join the New York Giants, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The deal for the 36-year-old quarterback is reportedly for one year and up to $21 million, with $10.5 million guaranteed.

Wilson played with the Steelers on a one-year, $1.21 million contract in 2024 while still owed $37.79 million from the Denver Broncos. He said after the season that he wants to play “as long as possible,” reiterating a statement he made in November that he wants to play 5-7 more years.

Wilson joined the Steelers in the offseason after being released by the Broncos, but started on the bench in favor of Justin Fields after a calf injury sidelined him in the preseason. He took over at quarterback in Week 7 and remained the Steelers' starter through the remaining 11 games of the regular season and a 28-14 wild-card playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

I think he was referring to the Giants, not Russ. Angleae Wednesday #7

So are they not taking a QB at 3, or are they just wasting cap space signing both Wilson and Winston? RockRaven Mar 25 #4
His 2024 QBR was only 51.3. Is there a shortage of mediocre QBs or something? Ziggysmom Mar 25 #5

Yes, but Russ has been mediocre on 3 teams now. Angleae Wednesday #9

He got Pittsburgh to the playoffs and is a better passer than Daniel Jones who he is replacing. I wish the Cardinals waited a bit and got Russell Wilson as a backup QB instead of Jacoby Brissett. Now every backup QB in the Progressive commercials were or are at one point backups to Kyler Murray.

A WR with the potential to blossom into one of the league's best at his position, but he's going to have either Wilson or Fields throwing to him. Underwhelming!

And if they are thinking no QB at 3, is it because they don't like Sanders or because they think the Browns will take Sanders at 2?

QB Jeff Garcia broke passing records (Montana, Young) in San Francisco yet managed a 0 rating in one game played for the Browns.

Sometimes it's the system and/or lack of supporting cast.

His last couple years in Seattle, his time in Denver, and this last year in Pitt. Father time has caught up with him, he just doesn't want to acknowledge it.
