(56,502 posts)I never had the chance to go have fun and fly out to the Galápagos Islands, I was there for work. But after a week of work, the people of the national historical museum invited me to have a private tour of their museum (Incas? That's just recent stuff! Look at these artifacts, they predate the Incas by 3000 years!). Then they took me out to Otavalo, a village where artisans bring in their carpets, serapes and jewelry and sell it for REALLY cheap prices. I saw this one really nice carpet, and was asked $25. I was about to pounce on it when a guy from the government said "Not like that!" He jumped in and bargained the seller down to $15, and he was still happy. Then they took me to Cotacachi, another village where they only make leather and suede goods. I bought some jackets and carrying cases, and then they took me to a restaurant that had tables facing an open window. This is where these hummingbirds came up to feed at the many plants right next to the building.
Intricate design and dazzling colors. Thanks for sharing those pics.
