Prairie Warbler in Brooklyn NYC

This individual's song is a rapid series of buzzy notes that rise in pitch from beginning to end. The Prairie Warbler is quite handsome; note the chestnut streaks on the back of his neck.

…and, anecdotally, our numbers seem down this spring.

2. Their population is declining, and there was only one counted at Cape May Observatory a few days ago.

It just might be early for these, as almost 900 Yellow-rumped Warblers were counted one morning at Cape May, then started arriving in NYC.
