Cedar waxwings perched high in a tulip tree

The birds are in the crown of a very tall tulip tree, also known as a tulip poplar. I never see waxwings on the ground, like those you might have seen in photos taken at NYC's Central Park Bathing Rock. I take bird photos in the wild areas of largely undeveloped parks and state forests. There are no easily located bathing rocks for birds where photographers can easily get a closeup photo out here.

Taken along the Susquehanna River near Marietta, PA, this afternoon.

Beautiful birds! And for once, they're sitting still, giving you the perfect opportunity. nt CaliforniaPeggy May 2024 #1

Ooh, I really like the composition of the multiple bird pic. Reminds me of a woodblock print. TeamProg May 2024 #4

If you have mulberry trees in your neighborhood, look and listen for waxwings in the trees when the berries begin to ripen, usually in June-August.

I seldom print anything, although I do have a high-quality photo printer. Mostly I post my photos in Birders and Photography. I don't watermark my photos. That policy might change as I'm considering selling some of my stuff.
