In the NFL, injuries are inevitable. But it’s not always the monster tackles that leave players hobbled and your fantasy team in limbo.

Sometimes, the biggest injuries come from the fields themselves.

The NFLPA has been fighting to get the league to move to all grass fields for years now, but the wealthiest league in the world — it made $12 billion last year alone — is too cheap to ban the most dangerous kinds of turf.

Instead, they celebrate it.

1. As one of my favorite former Dolphins players Mad Dog Jim Mandich often said

"Football should only be played on God's green grass."

I know artificial turf is less maintenance and keeps uniforms relatively clean in bad weather, but the fact that two star players (Aaron Rodgers and Jalen Phillips) blew out their Achilles tendons on the very same field is no coincidence IMO. I still remember an Eagles WR blowing out BOTH knees at the same time on the crappy artificial turf at the old Veterans stadium. You would think with the salary cap implications if a highly paid veteran's career was cut short by an injury that owners would be willing to make sure the very playing surface they perform on was not contributing to injury.
