OK, the Force is definitely out of kilter now!

No, not the Air Force, who I understand went down to Army earlier! That was expected.

I'm talking about a bowl-eligible Vanderbilt, who just defeated Auburn, in Auburn, for the first time ever, in a season that includes their earlier win over Alabama, IN THE SAME YEAR!

Vanderbilt should have been ranked in the top 25 this week. This may well have been their motivation... hlthe2b Nov 2 #5

After the game the Auburn coach said if we played Arkansas ten times we’d win nine. The same probably applies to Vanderbilt. Go Commodores.

Having so many teams, it's almost inconceivable anybody goes undefeated. Bama beats Georgia, Georgia beats Texas, and Texas would likely beat Alabama. Now you've got Texas A&M, still undefeated in the conference, and they have to face Texas on Thanksgiving weekend.

The Southwest Conference. Arkansas was the only team out of Texas in the conference. The bad behavior of the members put an end to the SWC. Sadly.

and they weren't the only offender, just the most egregious.

Every team in the SWC received some sort of sanction except Arkansas. SMU got the “death penalty.” 60s and early 70s, my golden years of College Football. Nixon at the Hogs-Horns game in Fayetteville in 69. Hogs up 14-0 in the 4th quarter. Horns won 15-14.
