UK based American football fans given 24-hour amnesty

http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/sport/sport-headlines/american-football-fans-given-24-hour-amnesty-2014092490990

UK-BASED fans of American football are to be allowed to openly discuss the sport for one day.

Wembley Stadium will host the Oakland Raiders and the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, signalling a 24-hour window for American football fans to venture out in their ludicrously oversized shirts with nonsensical logos.

Oakland fan Stephen Malley said: “In my daily life I have to keep very quiet about what I’m into. If I mention anything people will think I’m deranged, or, even worse, American. Sometimes the morning after ‘the game’ it’s obvious I’ve stayed up until 5am watching telly, but I just hope my colleagues presume I’m a serial killer.”

A crowd of 90,000 is expected at the Wembley event but fans have been asked not to take photos to protect the privacy of those present.

and the worst part about it is...

Oakland and Miami.

Seriously?

We're trying to promote the sport of US Football by sending crappy teams over all the time?

Or is there some hope afoot that some year those crappy teams might end up stranded on a deserted island never to be heard from again?

"Oops...Oakland's gone missing. Oh well...let's just adjust the schedule"

Think it's better to introduce people to the sport through local teams in national leagues, not by uprooting NFL teams to play at Wembley.

And as to the idea of relocating an NFL team to London? Just no.

If the NFL wants their sport to go international, how about a tournament that's the equivalent of football's World Cup?
