Oklahoma Sooners rank No. 1 in ESPN power rankings, playoff forecast

Following a big road win against West Virginia, OU has risen to No. 1 in two of ESPN's biggest weekly polls.

The Sooners are No. 1 in both ESPN's Power Rankings and Playoff Forecast. OU was No. 3 in the Power Rankings last week, but had a climb in the chart after its win over the Mountaineers and sub-par games from Oregon and Florida State over the weekend. The Sooners earned 316 points to Alabama's 300 in this week's rankings.

From ESPN: "Introducing Samaje Perine, yet another star for the Sooners. Oklahoma got an important win in Morgantown, West Virginia, and further validated itself as the team to beat in the Big 12."

In the Playoff Forecast (Insider content), ESPN placed the Sooners ahead of Florida State, Oregon and Alabama -- giving the Sooners a 22.1 percent chance of winning out and a 58.5 percent chance of winning the Big 12 (based on its Football Power Index and "the eye test&quot .
