After the latest allegations against Antonio Brown he contacted a woman who made an anonymous allegation of sexual impropriety against him in a Sports Illustrated story the New England Patriots have released him.
Brown effectively broke the news himself on Twitter, writing, Thanks for the opportunity @Patriots #GoWinIt.
A couple of minutes later, NFL Network confirmed the move.
The Patriots released a brief statement:
The New England Patriots are releasing Antonio Brown. We appreciate the hard work of many people over the past 11 days, but we feel that it is best to move in a different direction at this time.

Can't believe I picked this guy for my fantasy team

(4,989 posts)So, I can limit the damage somewhat. The galling thing is that I wasted such a high pick on that turd when I knew better. I knew it was going to be something with him, but I figured it would be the usual diva nonsense, not threatening a woman's children. Dear God.

(31,261 posts)Male (and some female ones) coaches tend to be macho assholes. But if I were a coach, I would be drilling into young athletes that they need to respect a woman's rights and safety, and treat everyone with fairness and integrity. Antonio Brown would be held up as an example, a superlative athlete, but a horrible human being, based upon what is coming out on him. It does not matter how tough a kid's environment is, learning to treat people with respect is an important behavior to learn and carry through life.

(31,261 posts)I seriously think any athlete, Black, White, Whatever, that face what came out on Brown in the last week is done for good. Hoped he saved enough money, he will need it.
But if is sad that Trump likely has cheated many multiples of the people and raped women and girls, yet so far he has escaped scrutiny. Maybe Brown will be a turning point, people will have to seriously look at Trump's and Kavanaugh's past contact. Or maybe their skin color and privilege will continue to shield them from justice.

(31,261 posts)I doubt that he gets another professional football contract, I just don't see another team taking on the sexual assault allegations. He made his own bed.
I hope that his situation serves as a clear warning to up and coming hotshots that they can't treat women and other people like shit and not have that come back on them in a really bad way. Maybe this will change male society for the better.

Eagles should have the same warning with quarterbacks
