I've been kind of disappointed in attendance at the 500 for years. They have to close more sections every year. Young boys just aren't that interested in racing like they were fifty years ago. Driving in a circle looks kind of stupid after we've sent men to the Moon and back and anyone who flies commercial now goes Two and a Half Times as fast as Indy cars so there isn't the thrill of the unknown and untested speed like in the Fifties and Sixties. I never could get my son and his friends interested in fast cars. Death machine bikes they love, but not stock cars or Indy. They say they're too boring to watch, and too expensive to attend. As for me, I basically quit watching car racing when Richard Petty retired.

Lived on 30th St, between Georgetown and Moeller. We walked the only time I went.

I really think there is just a lot of other entertainment competition today. Things like the internet and cable TV. Everybody is competing for the same pie.
