I am trying to contain my excitement about the upcoming Women's World Cup. I just love it so much!!!
Being able to root for a US team in the World Cup is fabulous, and since the men's team still manages to suck, bigtime, it makes the women's team that much more awesome.
Anybody else stoked for this?

(2,343 posts)I'm loving the commercial for the USWNT for the World Cup. The David vs Goliath one where our women are Goliath. Basically saying David doesn't stand a chance.

(531 posts)And I'll also be cheering for the two native Coloradans on the roster this time around: Lindsey Horan and Mallory Pugh.
Let's hope Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe can switch on the magic for the big games... they usually do!

(2,314 posts)If our national team is there to focus on, good, but by the finals, you just don't know who you might be rooting for!
a little fun rivalry here on DU isn't a bad thing!

I think their winning was a huge boost for the nation's morale.

(2,314 posts)I always wondered if our team somehow threw it for them, but in watching it I saw no evidence, so maybe not.
No matter you are right, Japan needed some good news that year.

(3,622 posts)they're too damn professional and too damn proud.
No...I really think those Japanese ladies reached down inside themselves, found the extra will to win and were carried to victory by their determination.
And let's be honest...they were a damned talented team anyway.
I'm guessing a significant part of the world watching were putting all their vibes on play for them. The USA women were favored and everyone likes an underdog...

(2,314 posts)there are no surprises. Even so, it was 6 hours of satisfaction that only come every 4 years. I was in heaven.
At my age, I have to think: is this my last World Cup? It does make me focus in a way I wouldn't have 12 years ago, when I still thought I had an innumerable number ahead of me.
Enjoy it while you have it!

(10,147 posts)I have watched nearly all of the tourney and despite VAR and other controversies, I am more into this Cup than I was 4 years ago for Canada 2015...
Hoping for a clean sheet, 2-0 win over England...with Alex and 'pinoe netting the goals...
Then I will be pulling for the Dutch over the Swedes...never want to see the same opponent twice in a tourney!
Definitely finding myself moving away from the National Hand-Egg League more and more and looking forward to MLS becoming MLF proper soon! (LOL...I just HATE the NFL since Stan Kroenke was allowed to take a giant dump on the people of St. Louis...screw them!!!)

Excited for Sunday. Will be watching at a soccer bar with a crowd.
