Yesterday was a lovely early Spring day in NYC so my wife and I took the afternoon to enjoy the city. Our wedding anniversary is later this week so we decided to celebrate.
First, we took the tram to Roosevelt Island. This is a large gondola like a ski lift and it crosses the East River at 59th Street. The view of the city is stunning!
Once on the island, we walked south to the abandoned small pox hospital. Its mostly just ruins but its a part of NY history.
We continued our walk up the east side of the island enjoying the views of the modern buildings, the Silvercup Studios and the famous Pepsi sign.
Then we took the tram back to Manhattan and got a free transfer to the subway which we rode down to Battery Park at the south end of Manhattan. There, we boarded the Staten Island Ferry for a free roundtrip boat ride through New York harbor. It was sunny and almost warm and the visibility was nearly unlimited. The Statue of Liberty still stands proudly and prominently in the northern bay. The views of the skyline, the Verrazano Bridge and the harbor were glorious.
When we got back to Manhattan, we walked to Chinatown for a dim sum dinner before riding the subway home.
It was a pleasant and romantic way to enjoy our anniversary!

When we got married, a state Supreme Court judge who is a friend married us in her courtroom and sentenced us to life!
After the verdict, we all walked to Chinatown for lunch then the two of us bought a bottle of Prosecco and rode the ferry. So yesterday was a modest re-enactment, if you will!
Thanks for your good wishes.

As we came south, we were astonished to see palm trees!
Have a great week.
