They are talking about something that got tossed around for decades if not hundreds of years in oral tradition before anyone decided to write it down. The authors for almost all of it and certainly the most prominent parts are completely anonymous. None of it was organized into a single document until the Romans decided to make their own editorial decisions and people to this day don't agree on it. Throughout the centuries you had scribes who injected errors both intentionally and unintentionally. The evolution of language changes meanings and interpretations, much of which has been lost forever through time. Doctrine and traditional interpretations added another layer of bullshit and everything along every step of the process was told from a male perspective exclusively.

We had a prominent member of this group who used to tell everyone here he knew exactly what the original authors meant. It was kinda funny and sad to watch.
