Paula White, who called BLM the ‘anti-Christ,’ named by Trump as head of new White House Faith Office

President Donald Trump on Thursday announced that he would create a new White House Faith Office and named television evangelist Rev. Paula White to lead it. Trump shared the news while speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., where faith leaders and bipartisan members of Congress gathered for the annual event.

It’s not exactly clear what the function of the new White House Faith Office will be, and the White House did not immediately respond to an email request from theGrio seeking more details. However, during his remarks on Thursday, Trump emphasized the need to protect religious liberty. He also announced that the White House is establishing a commission on religious liberty and railed against “anti-Christian bias.”

“If we don’t have religious liberty, then we don’t have a free country. We probably don’t even have a country,” said Trump. “While I am in the White House, we will protect Christians in our schools, in our military, in our government, in our workplaces, hospitals, and in our public squares, and we will bring our countries back together as one nation under God, with liberty and justice for all.”

Rev. Paula White being tapped to lead the new White House Faith Office isn’t exactly surprising. ...

who had the temerity to preach the core principles of Christianity to Trump's face - all that hippie stuff like mercy and loving your neighbor and helping the poor and welcoming the stranger - and was trashed and threatened by Himself and the GOP and his MAGA minions. Otherwise I don't see a lot of churches being raided (unless they're sheltering immigrants), or coliseums full of hungry lions ready to feast on Trump-loving evangelicals (the face-eating leopards are hanging out at diners in Dumbfuckistan). And I guess this "Faith Office" isn't going to worry a bit about the people in the mosques and synagogues where religion-based hate crimes actually are occurring.

After Trump's 2020 loss, Paula White said "demonic confederacies" were trying to steal the election. She'll now lead the new White House Faith Office.

There was, however, a substantive dimension to the remarks. Trump announced, for example, that he’s creating a Presidential Commission on Religious Liberty, as well as signing an executive order intended to target what he described as “anti-Christian bias.”

But as a Reuters report noted, there was one other element of the president’s vision that stood out:

The president on Thursday also announced he will create a White House Faith Office, led by Rev. Paula White, who has served as a religious adviser to him for many years.

As a practical matter, this White House office, which also existed during Trump’s first term, probably won’t have a dramatic impact on public policy. It is, however, worth pausing to appreciate who the president is welcoming onto his team......

The Hill also noted that White delivered an opening prayer before Trump’s re-election campaign kickoff, saying “demonic networks” had aligned themselves against the Republican. As People for the American Way noted, it was a familiar refrain: In the wake of Trump’s 2020 defeat, the same televangelist held multiple emergency prayer services to battle the “demonic confederacies“ that were supposedly trying to steal the election.

The same report from People for the American Way added:

White joined Trump at the Jan. 6 rally that preceded the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, where she prayed that God would give rallygoers a “holy boldness” and that “every adversary” would “be overturned right now in the name of Jesus.” ... White has repeatedly declared that her mere presence in the White House makes it “holy ground” and warned that to oppose Trump is to oppose God.

It’s not altogether clear what White’s responsibilities will be leading the White House Faith Office, or whether she intends to accept a taxpayer-funded salary. Watch this space.
