(25,876 posts)I used to present pagan services at my UU Fellowship. Unitarian Universalists formally recognize paganism as a legit spiritual path. I believe UU is the only "mainstream" religion in the US that does:
The Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans (CUUPS) is an independent group of Unitarian Universalists (UUs) who follow the teachings of contemporary or classical Paganism.

(823 posts)In 1960, in first grade in a Connecticut public school, we danced around the maypole! I wonder if kids get to do that somewhere nowadays. Thank you for the good wishes!

(6,636 posts)There was a permanent tall metal pole on the playground. It had a number of chains attached to the top. Once a year they let down the chains and attached ribbons.
I remember learning a Danish folk dance in first grade for the May Day celebration in 1958.
