(6,709 posts)of abusers. There is an argument to be made that religious denominations that foster sexual repression will also bolster levels of abuse, especially by excusing it and/or covering it up. I'm open to arguments and evidence to the contrary.

(12,284 posts)Several years ago there was a double page photo expose in The Houston Chronicle of abusers who were public school teachers. The photos were passport sized with a short bio. There were so many. The paper at that time was a real broad sheet. The accompanying story took 2 more pages.
These abusers were often given the choice of quietly resigning and given a good recommendation so they could abuse children at another school.
I am not arguing that the Catholic Church is not at fault. I just want people to not become complacent with simplistic answers as to how and why this is happening.
I have a granddaughter who was groomed and abused by her best friend's father.
