Right wing religious all bent out of shape about VA attorney general.

Ugh.

RICHMOND, Va (WVIR) - A group of religious leaders from across the commonwealth is calling for the resignation or impeachment of Attorney General Mark Herring. This comes after Herring’s announcement last week that he would not defend the state's ban on same-sex marriage.

In Richmond Wednesday, the group of pastors and a rabbi called the decision a “moral and constitutional crisis.”

“We have parted from God's ways. We have parted from God's word,” said Rabbi Carlos Parker. “The message from 9/11 was that to repent. We did not do that.”

The group joins a chorus of Republicans who say the attorney general is not doing his job. Herring says it is his job to oppose laws he deems unconstitutional.

Spare me from all the chuckleheaded fundamentalists of all faiths.

Note to Rabbi Carlos: 9/11 had a lot more to do with US military presence in Middle Eastern countries than it had to do with LGBT rights. Just sayin'.

Falwell said on The 700 Club the day after 9/11:

I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say "you helped this happen."

Pat Robertson, who was sitting next to him, concurred.
