However, this video romantically, and ahistorically, characterizes the clash as "katana versus bayonet," a complete misrepresentation of the actual battles. Ironic that the video should reference Lord Elgin, the famous looter of Greek antiquities the Greece is still negotiating to have returned. Gotta love The British Empire. It also credits "European nations with forcing Japan to open to trade when it was the United States Navy and Commodore Matthew C. Perry that forced the opening of Japan to the outside world. Lord Elgin negotiated a treaty between Britain and Japan 5 years later.
