Is there any instructions on how to post an image? I've tried, copy and paste, etc. etc.

(62,444 posts)1. You cannot "post images"
If you post the URL of an image (the address of the image), then the image is displayed. But you cannot, say, post an image from your computer or phone. It has to be online somewhere (there are a variety of image posting services), and then you can simply post the address of the image.

(16,401 posts)2. Right click on the picture you want to post. Click on Properties.
Copy the URL for the photo and paste that in the message text.
If you want to post your personal pictures, you will have to download them into a photo sharing account such as Photobucket.
BE SURE AND PUT A PASSWORD ON THAT ACCOUNT. If you don't, someone can get into your account and see ALL of the pictures there.

(22,651 posts)5. I always use tinypic to post any images saved on my computer
http://tinypic.com/
Try it, click browse, you'll see all images saved on your computer and upload one. tinypic gives you the URLs to copy and paste in your post. Then you have a picture on DU.

(12,879 posts)6. Resize and link to an online photo
https://postimages.org/ is a service that allows you to not only upload and resize your own images, but also to copy online photos by URL and resize them. Very handy (assuming you're linking to a photo on a site that doesn't have this capability blocked.)

(43,201 posts)7. Thanks for the link.
I don't use Photobucket any more since they decided to hold my pics for $300 ransom.

I noticed i used to be able to post pictures from almost anywhere, but now they usually show up as a link. is there a list of sites that we can directly post pictures from now?
