1. I don't see the text of the error message you're getting.

You might want to put the image you are trying to use in one of your posts on this thread to see if anyone can determine the issue.

Another thing to try would be to go through the avatar upload procedure with one (or two) that you know should work to verify that the uploading function is working properly for you. For example:
