2. With many photos

you can simply right click, "copy image address" and paste. You can click on "preview" at the bottom of the DU post box to see if it will display properly. If not, then a third-party image hosting site like Imgur is your friend.

https://imgur.com/

On Imgur, go to the top left where there's a green box called "New post"

Paste the URL of the image

Copy the image address and then paste it here.

3. From the internet or from your computer?

If from the internet (and you're using a Chrome browser), right-click on the image and select "Copy Image Address". Then, right-click inside your post and select "Paste".

If the image is on your local computer, you will have to upload it to an image hosting site like https://imgur.com/gallery/2Vdtu (this is a tutorial on how to upload images and share them on Imgur).

Hope this helps!

then pressed "Preview" here and all I saw was the link.

Perhaps the address is too long?

Oh well.

Thanks!

6. Do you use Google Hangouts?

If so, a nice little trick is to send an image to yourself in a hangouts message, and then click on it in Hangouts - it opens in your web browser. Copy the address of the image at the top of the browser and then paste it into DU.

11. For du to show the actual photo instead of the link address

the photo should be either a .gif or .jpg (there are a few others). jpg are the best. Make sure the link you copy ends in .jpg... often links from a google search will have the search criteria appended to the end of the link address

https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=images&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwiq3MeL04LlAhWLvp4KHQgTC_4QjRx6BAgBEAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FMountain&psig=AOvVaw3beYpvvZ4FysAlo90snD7i&ust=1570280025791958

so clicking on the "copy image address" and then opening a new tab or window often reveals the true .jpg address of just the photo you want in your post
